Objective: A hotel wished to increase room occupancy and meeting bookings.

Strategy: Since hotels and motels in Orlando, Florida are situated in one of the world's largest tourist centers, competition for guests is intense. In developing a promotion for the High Q Hotel, it was decided to focus on the hotel's central location and easy access to the area's major tourist attractions. The idea was carred out with a 20-inch ruler inmprinted with the copy, "The High Q Quality Inn...stand tall in the center of all..." On the reverse side of the ruler was a cartoon map showing the tourist attractions along Interstate 4, from Tampa to Daytona Beach, with the hotel in the midst of it all. Distributed primarily at travel industry trade shows, the ruler was directed to travel agents and meeting planners. Because of the ruler's size, it was clearly visible when carried at trade shows or placed on a desk.
