Objective: To promote the sale of thoroughbred horses.
Strategy: Quality ballpoint pens were presented as an appreciation gift to buyers of a horsebreeder's animals during two sales held in Florida. Engraved with the name of the animal that was purchased, the pen was presented with the sale papers.
Results: The advertiser sold 100 horses in the two sales, and in some instances a purchase at the second sale was said to have been influenced by distribution of the advertising gift at the first. |
