Objective: A car rental company wished to generate income from the rentals initiated by insurance claims adjusters, who must provide transportation for claimants whose cars are being repaired.
Strategy: Because most claims adjusters use the telephone to complete a great portion of their work, the advertiser's sales representatives presented them with a sand-weighted paperweight/noteholder cube imprinted, "This claim is basically unbelievable," and containing other expressions commonly used in an adjuster's office. The cubes carried the advertiser's logo and phone number and provided a constant desk-top reminder of the advertiser's services.
A brochure distributed with the item announced special rates.
Results: Adjusters who previously had not provided the advertiser with rental income now procured 10 to 15 rental contracts per week (averaging about $150 in revenue per rental). Impressed with the program, the advertiser's national organization adopted it for use throughout the U.S. |
